LGBTQ+ Health

  • LGBTQ+ people are members of every community, including Yavapai County.
  • 5% of Arizona’s population identifies as LGBTQ+.
  • 25% LGBTQ+ individuals in Arizona have children.
  • 16% of LGBTQ+ individuals in Arizona are without health insurance.
  • Negative health outcomes in the LGBTQ+ community are due largely in part to societal discrimination and oppression.

Individuals should consider discussing the following with their provider:

  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Certain Cancers (Breast, Gynecological, Prostate, Testicular, Colon. etc.)
  • STIs such as HPV, HIV, and Hepatitis
  • Tobacco Use, Substance Abuse, and Alcohol Overconsumption
  • Asthma
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Hormones and Medical Transition (for transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals)

While these concerns may not be exclusive to the LGBTQ+ community, there are factors that make these concerns more common in the LGBTQ+ community.

Local and national organizations that are inclusive of and/or offer support for LGBTQ+ individuals. YCCHS is not affiliated with these organizations.
